Biography

My name is Yushau Sodiq and I am a Muslim. I earned my B.A (1976) and M.A  (1979) degrees on Islamic law at Islamic University, Medina, Saudi Arabia.  I taught Islamic law courses at the University of Sokoto, Sokoto, Nigeria from 1980-1983.  I came to Temple University, Philadelphia, PA in 1984 where I earned my Ph. D degree in Religious Studies in 1991. I taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA from 1990-1992. I joined Texas Christian University in 1992. At present, I am an Associate Professor of Islamic and Religious studies at TCU.  I specialize on Islamic Studies, Islamic law, Islam in America and African Traditional Religions. I have authored a few articles on Islamic law, Muslim-Christian Relations in Nigeria and Islam in America.  I enjoy traveling and working with the community, Muslims and non-Muslims. I am currently the Chairman of the Board of Education at Al-Hedayah, a full-time Islamic school in Fort Worth, Texas.  For more information about my work, click on my publications.  I am married and have three great children.
